Citizen-Warrior: Senior Airman finds a family in Vehicle Maintenance

By Michigan National Guard 110th Wing

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – "My favorite thing about working for Vehicle Maintenance is the close family dynamic. That was really attractive to me when I first was picking what shop I wanted to work at. Everyone is just a true family here."

Senior Airman Annie VanArman works in the 110th Logistics Readiness Squadron as a Vehicle Maintenance Journeyman at Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Michigan.

VanArman works with eight other people and is one of two female Airmen in her shop. The shop maintains and repairs more than 80 vehicles across the 110th Wing.

VanArmen has worked in Vehicle Maintenance for three years. Always on the go, she loves jobs with constant movement and hands-on tasks. She is studying at Kellogg Community College to become a nurse and is expected to graduate in May.

A believer in the power of positive thinking, VanArman's motto for life can be summed up with a favorite quote by Henry Ford: "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right."
