LA Guard offers job training to at-risk youth

Denning of Houma, La., takes her final exam, which includes ambulance operations, gaining access and rescue operations, special operations and EMS response to terrorism, to become a certified emergency medical technician. JCP, which is located at the Gillis W. Long Center in Carville, La., helps at-risk youth get back on track while receiving valuable job-skill training. Emergency medical technician is one of eight trade certifications JCP has to offer.

Washington state Blackhawk pilot earns Distinguished Flying Cross

Chief Warrant Officer Four Noel Larson, a Washington Army National Guard Blackhawk pilot, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Dec. 5 for conduct that was "nothing less then heroic," according to his citation. Larson is assigned to C Company, 1-140th Aviation. On March 25, Larson was the pilot and mission coordinator onboard a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter when it supported a raid being conducted by coalition forces.

ANG providing more than just fuel at Gitmo

These 10,000 gallon bladders are filled five times a week to ensure continuous power is maintained at Camp Justice and the Expeditionary Legal Complex. JTF Guantanamo conducts safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detained enemy combatants, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the Global War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of Military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations. The JTF conducts planning for and, on order, responds to Caribbean mass migration operations.

Mr. Oketa's visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of his nation's participation in the State Partnership Program with the New Jersey National Guard. This week, Albania achieved its long-standing goal of membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
